Nino Kapanadze
Georgia
b.1990
Nino Kapanadze lives and works in Paris, France. Her painting practice transcends mere image-making, treating the canvas as a dynamic space for dialogue, conflict, and revelation. Rejecting fixed endpoints or rigid categories, she explores light, movement, tempo, and transparency, embracing contradictions while mastering dissonance. Her work prioritizes painterly dominance over subject matter, yet integrates layered content, juxtaposed meanings, and open-ended questions. Whether creating individual pieces, diptychs, triptychs, or larger systems, she interrogates the resistance of images against relativity and engages with simultaneous languages. Technically versatile, she employs traditional oils, Byzantine tempera, and Italian affresco to harness color and line in distinctive ways.
Kapanadze graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (Faculty of Architecture) in 2015. In 2018, she relocated to France, earning a Master’s in Political Sciences from Sciences Po (Institut d’études politiques de Paris) before dedicating herself fully to painting at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she graduated in 2023. Her solo exhibitions have been held at the Villa Atrata Palais-Royal (Paris, FR), the Chapelle Saint Croix, Villa Atrata (Angles-sur-l’Anglin, FR), the Fondazione Bonollo Arte Contemporanea (Thiene, IT), the Crèvecœur (Paris, FR) and LC Queisser (Tbilisi, GE). Her works are held in private and public collections, including the Fondation Lafayette Anticipations (FR), The Noewe Foundation (LT), and the Sigg Art Foundation (FR), Fondazione Bonollo (IT).
