Brie Ruais received her MFA from Columbia University, School of the Arts, New York (2011). Her movement-based practice uses scrapes, gouges, and gestures in clay, often the equivalent of her body weight, creating human-scale sculptures that engage viewers physically and sensorially.
Ruais’ solo exhibitions include her first institutional show at The Moody Center for the Arts, Rice University, Houston, United States (2021). Her work has been exhibited at public institutions, including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Craft Contemporary in Los Angeles, the Musée d’art de Joliette in Québec, Canada, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Her work is included in collections such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, TD Bank, United States; Matamoros Art In Embassies Collection, Mexico; Pizzuti Collection, Ohio; and Burger Collection, Hong Kong.
